Künker sale 386, lot 5181

This specimen was lot 5181 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €240 (about US$310 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, AB 1692 KURFÜRSTENTUM HANNOVER, Georg I. Ludwig, 1698-1714. Reichstaler 1704, Clausthal. Ausbeute der Grube St. Andreas. Feine Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (electorate of Hannover, George Louis, 1698-1714, thaler of 1704, Clausthal mint, for the St. Andrew mine. Fine patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This mining thaler was struck 1698-1705 and is a slightly better type. The issues of 1698-1700 are catalogued as Dav-6655. Other thalers for 1704 include KM 19 (leaping stallion reverse) and KM 35 (wild man reverse).
