Great Britain 2002 5 pounds KM-1024
This specimen was lot 1756 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. 5 Pounds, 2002. Queen on horse. Choice Brilliant Proof." The catalog listing, specification and mintages reported below are complicated by the multiple formats of issue: copper-nickel (KM 1024), silver (KM 1024a) and gold (KM 1024b). We have noted here the mintages given in the SCWC altho they do not coincide with Seaby[2]. This NCLT honors the 50th anniversary of queen Elizabeth's reign.
Recorded mintage: 3,469,243 (incl. KM 1035) + proofs in copper-nickel and silver plus more proofs in gold.
Specification: KM-1024: copper-nickel, 28.28 g, 38.6 mm diameter; KM-1024a: 0.925 fine silver; KM-1024b: 39.94 g, 0.917 fine gold.
