This specimen was lot 71138 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 100 Pounds, 1988. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS PROOF-70 Deep Cameo. A brilliant and attractive Proof, at the peak of its peer group, with flashing mirrored fields and frosty cameo devices." This type was struck 1987-89 as a bullion coin in sizes ranging up to one ounce.
