This specimen was lot 70861 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 100 Pounds, 1990. London Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Virtually perfect with full cameo features and unblemished fields. The VERY SCARCE first date for this type and perhaps underappreciated in this market as such." This type was struck 1990-96. The prior type (KM 953) varied in being alloyed with copper instead of silver. It was accompanied by KM 952a (₤50), KM 951a (₤25) and KM 950a (₤10).

Recorded mintage: unknown plus 262 proofs.

Specification: 34.05 g, 0.917 fine gold (with silver alloy), 1.000 troy oz AGW.
