This specimen was lot 2311 in Goldberg sale 109 (Los Angeles, January 2019), where it sold for $696. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. 50 Pounds, 1991. Weight ounce. Elizabeth II. Reverse: Britannia standing. Choice Brilliant Proof." This type was struck 1990-96. The prior type (KM 952) varied in being alloyed with copper instead of silver. It was accompanied by KM 953a (₤100), KM 951a (₤25) and KM 950a (₤10).

Recorded mintage: unknown but all proofs.

Specification: 17.03 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.500 ounce AGW.
