Great Britain 1991 5 pounds KM-949
This specimen was lot 20515 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $1,586.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 5 Pounds, 1987. GEM BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED. Authorized mintage of 10,000 pieces, but according to the Spink book only 5,694 pieces were issued. With case of issue and certificate of authenticity serial # 2678. From the High Rise Collection." This bust was used 1987-91 while KM 945 was struck 1985-86, 1990-97. This denomination was a revival of the old five pound struck in Victorian and Edwardian times. It was accompanied by a gold sovereign and two pounds, also not intended to circulate.
