This specimen was lot 23809 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 1988. PCGS PROOF-68 Deep Cameo Gold Shield. A brilliant proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices. From the Collection of Richard Jewell." This type was struck 1985-97 for sale to collectors and did not circulate altho some show signs of mishandling.
Recorded mintage: unknown but all proofs.
Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22 mm diameter, 0.2355 troy oz AGW.
