This specimen was lot 51121 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1956. London Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS PROOF-66 Cameo. Scottish reverse. One of just two seen for the type in the PCGS census, this minor offers a sharp strike with enticing brilliance and some very subtle golden hints nearer the devices." The Elizabeth II shilling was introduced in 1953 and redesigned in 1954 to drop "BRITT OMN" from the obverse and struck in that form until 1970. Proofs are rare. Another shilling (KM 904) was struck with a English crest on the reverse.

Recorded mintage: 42,854,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 5.65 g, copper-nickel, 23.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
