This specimen was lot 50161 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $828. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, Sovereign, 1902. PCGS MS-64. Lustrous." This type was struck 1902-10 in considerable numbers and is the only sovereign for Edward VII.
Recorded mintage: 4,738,000 plus 15,000 proofs.
Specification: 7.98 g, 0.917 fine gold.
