This specimen was lot 33137 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "Edward VII gold Matte Proof 1/2 Sovereign 1902 PR63 PCGS." This type was struck 1902-10 in considerable numbers and is the only half sovereign for Edward VII. This is the only date for which proofs were made.
Recorded mintage: 4,244,000 plus 15,000 proofs.
Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold.
