This specimen was lot 23757 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Sovereign, 1903. London Mint. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. Employing an appealing golden-orange tone with some hints of rose, this lustrous, choice example is a great representation of the type." This type was struck 1902-10 in considerable numbers and is the only half sovereign for Edward VII. Proofs were made only in 1902.
