This specimen was lot 56178 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, 1874-H. Birmingham (Heaton) Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-64 Red. Mature bust." This date was struck at Heaton with many varieties in the placement of the ribbons and leaves in the queen's wreath and the size of the date. The mature bust shown here has a slightly beaky nose and a double chin compared to the young bust. Heaton assisted the London mint with the bronze coinage 1874-76, 1881 and again during World War One.
