Great Britain 1866 florin
This specimen was lot 34065 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Victoria "Gothic" Florin 1866 MS64 NGC, Die #9. Truly an unmissable example of this iconic British coin type, coupling an early date and die number with outstanding technical quality--standing as one of just 2 MS64-graded specimens of the date at NGC and PCGS combined, with none ranking finer. Additionally lightened by ring of iridescence in the peripheries, making this a must for the serious British connoisseur." The florin with "BRIT" on the obverse legend was struck 1863-67, the subtype with "BRITT" was struck 1868-78 and had die numbers.
