Glarus 1809 schilling KM-15
This specimen was lot 4301 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,000 CHF (about US$2,428 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Glarus, Schilling 1809, Glarus. Variante: Wappen zwischen Palm- und Lorbeerzweig. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Glarus, schilling of 1809, variety with arms between palm and olive branches. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1809-10 and is scarce with the 1810 being a rare date. Another schilling of 1809 features a garland over the arms (KM 13). The last issue from this canton was a shooting festival forty batzen issued in 1847. One schilling was three rappen; one hundred rappen made a frank.
