This specimen was lot 1863 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Gabon. 100 Francs, 1960 NGC PF63 UC. President Leon M'Ba. On Independence. NGC graded Proof 63 Ultra Cameo." Like the coinage of many impoverished African countries, the commemoratives such as this one, which were sold outside the country, are easier to obtain than circulating coinage. It is accompanied by gold ten, twenty-five and fifty francs.
