Heritage sale 3064, lot 32826
Fr E Africa H3064-32826r.jpg

This specimen was lot 32826 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $2,760. The catalog description[1] noted, "French Equatorial African Territory Non-denominated 1928 MS61 NGC. An intriguing token coinage issue believe to have been initially produced for the payment of taxes. Quite rare and desirable in this grade--finest example in the NGC census." Without any value stamped upon it, it is difficult to guess what this token traded for in French Equatorial Africa in the late 1920's. Others exist with a leopard, rhinoceros and elephant.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: aluminum.

Catalog reference: KM Tn4, Lec-20.
