Sincona sale 102, lot 5153

This specimen was lot 5153 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,357 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Freiburg/Fribourg, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdicken 1620, Freiburg. Die Jahreszahl am Ende der Umschrift. Von grosser Seltenheit. Schön-sehr schön. Randfehler. Exemplar der Slg. Kunzmann, Auktion SINCONA 53, Zürich, Oktober 2018, Los 6249. (Switzerland, city and canton of Fribourg, half dicken of 1620, Fribourg mint, date at the end of the legend. Of high rarity, Fine-Very Fine, Edge flaw)"

This type was struck 1620-21. Altho the auctioneers call this a "half dicken", we follow the SCWC in calling this a 12 kreuzer because of the "12" on the eagle's breast. It is rare, especially in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.33 g, silver, 27 mm diameter, this specimen 3.45 g.
