Fribourg 1635 12 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3191 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,246 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Freiburg/Fribourg, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdicken 1635, Freiburg. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Viktor Luthiger-Holzgang, Auktion SINCONA 74, Zürich, Oktober 2021, Los 5174. (Switzerland, canton of Fribourg, half dicken of 1635, Fribourg mint. Very rare, Very fine.)"
Altho the auctioneers call this a "half dicken", we follow the SCWC in calling this a 12 kreuzer because of the "12" on the eagle's breast. It is rare, especially in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: billon or silver, this specimen 4.92 g.
