This specimen was lot 24526 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Louis XV gold 1/2 Louis d'Or 1730-BB, Strasbourg, AU58 NGC, sharply struck details with attractive original toning, scarce type in this grade." Droulers^[2] awards this date no premium as all the dates of this French type after 1726 are rare. The Strasbourg mint struck this type 1726, 1730, 1732, 1734-35; only the 1726 is common.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 4.08 g, 0.917 fine gold, 20 mm diameter.
