This specimen was lot 23546 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $3,671.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XV gold Louis d'Or 1726-P, Dijon mint, MS65 NGC, a superb mint state coin with brilliant mint luster and well-struck details, as nice as the day it was struck. Rarely seen in this elite quality." This type is recorded for 1726-40 and is among the more common gold coins of the French ancien régime.

Recorded mintage: 133,353 (est.)[2].

Specification: 8.16 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22-23 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Norbert Roëttiers.
