This specimen was lot 74496 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'or, 1726-B. Rouen Mint. Louis XV. NGC MS-61. Louis d'or aux Lunettes type. Minimal haymarking under magnification, yet fully Mint State with sparkling golden luster, and most desirable thus." This louis d'or aux lunettes is recorded for 1726-40 and is among the more common gold coins of the French ancien régime, this date is fairly common.

Recorded mintage: est. 195,200.

Specification: 8.16 g, 0.917 fine gold, 20 mm diameter, reeded edge.
