England (1413-22) penny S-1788
This specimen was lot 7167 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, ND (1413-22). York Mint; mm: pierced cross/-. Henry V. PCGS AU-50. Obverse: Crowned facing bust; mullet to left of crown, trefoil to right of crown; Reverse: Long cross pattee, with voided quatrefoil at center and trefoils in each angle. A beautiful lightly handled example, this well struck Penny has pockets of mint luster remaining. The best graded example by PCGS. From the Runze Collection." Pennies were struck at London, Durham and York in many varieties. This one is marked by a mullet and trefoil by the crown.
