Denmark 1681-GS skilling

from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 10278

This specimen was lot 10278 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €528 (about US$550). The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. Skilling, 1681-GS. Copenhagen Mint. Christian V. NGC AU-55. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1676-77 and 1680-81. Only the 1681 has mintmaster's initials "GS". One skilling was 1/96 speciedaler or 1/64 krone.

Specification: 0.6 g, 0.156 fine silver, 15.6 mm diameter.
