Denmark 1648 2 skilling KM-157

from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 10195

This specimen was lot 10195 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €288 (about US$300). The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Skilling, 1648. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik III. NGC AU-58. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." The SCWC records several two skilling struck in 1648: KM 132, KM 157 (shown here) and KM 158. This one, struck 1648-49, has the reverse legend "NOR·VAN·GOTO·ELEC:R:(ax)", referring to Frederick's status as king elect but not yet crowned.
