Denmark 1650 2 skilling

from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 10200

This specimen was lot 10200 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €408 (about US$425). The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Skilling, 1650. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik III. NGC AU-58. Lustrous coin. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This two skilling, struck 1648-51 in many varieties, has the reverse legend "NOR·VAN·GOTO·Q·REX", referring to Frederick's status as king crowned, not just king elect. It had a face value of 1/48 speciedaler.
