This specimen was lot 23720 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $7,637.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Frederik III gold Ducat 1651, MS63 NGC Terner Collection, a superb example of this early Ducat with bold design features and full mint brilliance. Very rare and desirable in this marvelous quality." Like most gold issues of the seventeenth century this type, struck 1649-51, is rare and expensive. King Frederik III ruled 1648-70.
