Denmark-Gluckstadt 1627 2 skilling
This specimen was lot 10165 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €504 (about US$525). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Skilling, 1627. Gluckstadt Mint. Christian IV. NGC AU Details--Environmental Damage. Scarce single year type. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Jonan G. Guildal Collection (Private Sale-1918)." This type was struck 1627 only. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648), king of Denmark and duke of Schleswig-Holstein, where this was struck, had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
