This specimen was lot 76401 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 1/2 Speciedaler, 1628-NS. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details. From the Richard August Collection." Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but not particularly successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain. This rare type was struck 1624, 1627-28, 1632, 1634 and 1646.
