This type was the first half real issued from the fledgling Republic of Colombia at the Popayán mint. This specimen was lot 25501 in Heritage sale 3014 (Chicago, April 2011) where it sold for $172.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Popayán 1/2 Real 1835-P-RU, VF30 ANACS. With usual horizontal axis (coin rotation). Another rare date, which was unconfirmed by Almanzar-Seppa. From The Dana Roberts Collection." This type was preceded by the "LIBERTAD AMERICANA" struck 1819-20.

Specification: 1.55 g, 0.666 fine silver, 0.0331 oz silver.
