This specimen was lot 72 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it sold for $4,050. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA, Cartagena, gold cob 2 escudos, (1634), assayer E below mintmark C to left, dots inside, +'s outside tressure, NGC MS 63. Compact flan with nice full cross, nearly full but off-center shield with bold full •C•E to left inside the king's ordinal IIII, lustrous surfaces per the assigned grade, date not visible but a die-match with others dated 1634." The Cartagena mint briefly struck coins 1627-35, but few with legible dates.
