This specimen was lot 20093 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 500 Yuan, 2012. Panda Series. PCGS MS-70 FIRST STRIKE. Light attractive even tone with some light haze in the open fields of the reverse." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. The one ounce panda was raised from 100 yuan to 500 yuan in 2000.
