Stack's Bowers May 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71711

This specimen was lot 71711 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 20 Yuan, 2012. Panda Series. PCGS MS-70. A flawless specimen that is designated as a "First Strike" by PCGS, this example displays rich golden luster and much beauty throughout." This denomination was used also for KM 2042 (2 oz silver, UNESCO). Gold pandas up to 1 oz (500 yuan) were struck in 2012.

Specification: 1.55 g, 0.999 fine gold, 14 mm diameter.
