Stack's Bowers April 2021 Hong Kong sale, lot 54008

This specimen was lot 54008 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 50 Yuan, 1987. Panda Series. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. No spots or haze but with handsome peripheral plum-gray toning." This was the first issue of a five ounce silver coin in the panda series.

Recorded mintage: 8,540.

Specification: 155.5 g, 0.999 fine silver, 5 oz ASW.
