This specimen was lot 44353 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $43,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "One of Only a Few Known, From the Famed Norweb Collection. CHILE. 4 Escudos, 1806-So FJ. Santiago Mint. Charles IV. NGC AU Details--Reverse Tooled. Emanating from the waning years of the reign of Charles IV, this lightly circulated specimen does exhibit some noted tooling upon the reverse (mostly existing within the natural lamination), but otherwise remains rather charming and pleasing. VERY RARE with only one other example of the date appearing in a search of archived auction results that span over two decades. Ex: Norweb Collection (Spink America - 3/1997) Lot # 141." This type was struck at Santiago thru 1808 in very small quantities.
