This specimen was lot 759 in Aureo y Calicó sale 243 (Barcelona, April 2012), where it sold for 2,300 € (about US$3,475 including buyer's fees). The catalog[1] noted,
"Carlos IV (1788-1808). 1795. Santiago. DA. 1 escudo. Bellísima. Brillo original. Muy rara así. EBC+. (One escudo of 1795, Santiago mint. Beautiful, original luster, rare in this quality, choice extremely fine.)"
This type was struck at Santiago 1792-1808 in limited numbers. Tho priced low in the SCWC, it is much rarer than the accompanying eight escudos.
Recorded mintage: 21,000.
