Steve Album sale 54, lot 3127

This specimen was lot 3127 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted,

"CANADA: Elizabeth II, 1952-2022, AR 20 dollars, 2014, DC Comics Series - Superman breaking thru ice, with COA and original deluxe case of issue, Proof. As per the Royal Canadian Mint, "In a design inspired by the cover of Superman Annual #1, the Man of Steel appears in all his glory. Published in 2012, Superman Annual #1 is the first annual Man of Steel issue in the New 52 universe, which relaunched DC Comics titles in 2011 with revamped storylines. As the caption of Superman Annual #1 hints, the Man of Steel faces alien extinction with the return of Helspont, a Daemonite who sees humanity as the key to his people's genetic salvation. Despite Superman's confident attitude on the cover - and on the reverse side of the coin - he and the heroes of Earth are taking a beating. Helspont teaches Superman a lesson after subduing him, saying he wants to spare him because he sees him as the defender of his 'investment.' His final sarcasm about his father, Jor-El, makes Superman reflect on his role and this new threat to humanity: 'Everything I've accomplished, every life I've saved, what good is it all if someone far more powerful than me can come along and wipe out all my efforts?'"
