This specimen was lot 33723 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada: Elizabeth II gold Proof "Purple Saxifrage" 350 Dollars 2008 PR68 Deep Cameo PCGS. A blemish-free example exhibiting full cameo contrast between frosted golden devices and jet-black fields." The profits extracted from the manufacture and sale of NCLT's caused the Royal Canadian Mint to scramble for ever more arcane topics, including this series of 2001-11 honoring Canadian flowers.
