This specimen was lot 70194 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 5 Cents, 1871. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. A lustrous and brilliant example featuring blazing, blast white surfaces. Immensely pleasing and attractive." This type was struck 1858 and 1870-1901 in substantial quantities and most dates are fairly plentiful up to Extremely Fine.

Recorded mintage: 1,400,000, a slightly better date.

Specification: 1.16 g, 0.925 fine silver, .034 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
