This specimen was lot 31741 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $305.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria 25 Cents 1871-H AU55 PCGS, Heaton mint. With most attractive silvery tone accented by turquoise and peach highlights that surround the peripheries." This type was struck 1870-1901 and superseded the disliked twenty cent piece. This Heaton mint issue is not rare but like all Canadian quarters of the period, is very scarce in nice condition. The SCWC does not mention the 7/7 variety.

Recorded mintage: 600,000.

Specification: 5.81 g, 0.925 fine silver, .173 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 5.
