Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1800-MC 24 mariengroschen KM-1033
This specimen was lot 72197 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 2/3 Taler, 1800-MC. Zellerfeld Mint. Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand. NGC MS-63. Demonstrating dusty olive and charcoal patina, this piece is ideal for discerning numismatists who place a special emphasis on originality. Very seldom encountered in Choice, it is also the first of the type that we can recall offering." This type was struck 1789-1800 and is noticeably scarcer than the concurrent KM 1034 with an arms obverse. It was valued at 2/3 thaler but weighed only 4/9 of a thaler.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
