Künker sale 352, lot 1861

This specimen was lot 1861 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,366 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBUTTEL, Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand, 1780-1806. 10 Taler 1794, Braunschweig. GOLD. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles William Ferdinand, 1780-1806, ten thalers of 1794, Brunswick mint. Rare date, very fine.)"

This type was issued in small quantities 1794-1806 along with a gold 2½ (KM 1032) and five thaler (KM 1025). The last ten thaler was struck in 1857.
