Künker Auction 426, lot 3612

This specimen was lot 3612 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €145 (about US$205 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand, 1780-1806. Konv.-Taler (Speciestaler) 1795, Braunschweig. Min. justiert, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Charles William Ferdinand, 1780-1806, convention thaler of 1795, Brunswick mint. Minor adjustment marks, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1787-96. It is probably the most available thaler from this locale for the eighteenth century. It was also struck in 1801 but that year is rare.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, 38.5 mm diameter, this specimen 27,83 g.
