This specimen was lot 55537 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 24 Mariengroschen, 1758-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Karl I. About Uncirculated Details -- Cleaned. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Ex: Emporium Hamburg Auction 295, Lot 1976." This type was struck 1735-80 for Karl I and is common. Twenty-four mariengroschen made two-thirds of a thaler or a gulden. Another gulden of this reign featured the leaping stallion reverse (KM 895), altho it was not struck every year. Mintmaster IBH appears 1739-62.
