This specimen was lot 55526 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 12 Mariengroschen, 1734-IAB. Zellerfeld Mint. Ludwig Rudolph. PCGS AU-53. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Ex: Peus 311 (10/1984) Lot # 2427 (with ticket)." Prior to succeeding to Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Ludwig Rudolf was prince of Brunswick-Blankenburg 1690-1731. This type was struck 1731-35 for Ludwig Rudolph and is fairly common. Twelve mariengroschen made one-third of a thaler or half a gulden.
