Künker sale 263, lot 748

This specimen was lot 748 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,842 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM Heinrich Julius, 1589-1613. Löser zu 3 Reichstalern 1612, Zellerfeld. Mit Wertpunze. Henkelspur, Felder min. geglättet, sehr schön. (Germany, principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Henry Julius, 1589-1613, triple thaler of 1612, Zellerfeld mint, with denomination punched in. Mount mark, fields smoothed, very fine.)"

This large coin, similar to issues of 1608-10, was accompanied by a 1½ thaler (Dav-LS33a) and an even more massive four thaler (Dav-LS30).
