Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1612 1-1/2 thaler Dav-LS33a
This specimen was lot 463 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €2,100 (about US$2,830 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, HERZOGTUM Heinrich Julius, 1589-1613. Löser zu 1 1/2 Reichstalern 1612, Zellerfeld. Ohne Wertpunze. Preussag Collection (Auktion LCG/Künker 1) 22 (dieses Exemplar). Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön. Exemplar der Preussag Collection, Part I. Auktion London Coin Galleries/Künker 1, London 2015, Nr. 22. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick- Wolfenbuttel, Henry Julius, 1589-1613, 1½ thaler of 1612, Zellerfeld mint, without denomination punched. Rim bumps, very fine.)"
This large coin, similar to issues of 1608-10, was accompanied by an even more massive three thaler (Dav-LS31) and four thaler (Dav-LS30).
