This specimen was lot 40231 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $2,802. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. 2 Taler, 1612. NGC AU-50. Generally well struck. Minimal wear and smooth gray to mahogany toning indicating that this large and stately coin was well cared for." This large coin, similar to issues of 1608-10, was accompanied by an even more massive triple thaler (Dav-LS31) and quadruple thaler (Dav-LS30).
