Künker sale 354, lot 5607

This specimen was lot 5607 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €440 (about US$612 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, FÜRSTENTUM, Christian Ludwig, 1648-1665. 1/24 Taler 1658, Clausthal, auf den Tod seiner Tante Clara, Tochter Wilhelms von Lüneburg, Gemahlin des Grafen Wilhelm von Schwarzburg, am 18. Juli. R Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 46, Osnabrück 1999, Nr. 2069. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle, Christian Louis, 1648-65, 1/24 thaler of 1658, on the death of his aunt Clara, daughter of William of Luneburg, wife of William of Schwarzburg. Rare, handsome patina, extremely fine.)"

This particular death was also marked by a thaler (KM 247). The duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle fell extinct in 1705 and passed to Hannover.
