This specimen was lot 55642 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Calenberg. 2/3 Taler, 1693. Zellerfeld Mint. Ernst August. About Uncirculated Details -- Cleaned. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1693-98 and superseded a two-thirds thaler with a wild man reverse.
