Künker sale 386, lot 5170

This specimen was lot 5170 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,000 (about US$1,292 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, Ernst August, 1679-1698, seit 1662 Bischof von Osnabrück. Reichstaler 1687, Zellerfeld. RR Hübsche Patina, sehr schön +. Exemplar der Auktion Adolph Hess AG 262, Zürich 1993, Nr. 367. (electorate of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Ernest Augustus, 1679-98, bishop of Osnabrück since 1662, thaler of 1687, Zellerfeld mint. Very rare, handsome patina, choice very fine.)"

This thaler of 1682, 1685 and 1687 is noted as rather expensive. Other thalers for 1687 include Dav-6612, Dav-6638 and Dav-6640, all scarce.
